I fear failure.
Flopping the UCAT and getting rejected by every med school I applied to wasn’t just a blow to my confidence — it made me question myself, my purpose, and even my intelligence.
For years, I thought I was just dumb.
But then… waking up at 6am for my work experience placement, talking to patients, and making kids smile made me realise how a simple gesture can make someone’s day.
I wanted to be there for people at their most vulnerable moments.
One moment I’ll never forget — a patient asked the nurse where I’d been after I left. That tiny comment made me realise: I’m capable of making a real impact.
That’s what motivated me to apply to medicine again.
