Last week, Assiniboine elder and knowledge keeper Tim Eashappie joined the Huskies at South Corman Park School to speak with Grade 4, 5 and 6 students about the importance of May 5th, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, also known as Red Dress Day. After Tim spoke with students about what this day means for Indigenous women, girls, two-spirit, gender-diverse people, their loved ones, families and communities, students and Huskie athletes coloured and decorated their own red dresses. These dresses are now on display at Merlis Belsher Place and will remain so until the end of May as a symbol of support and solidarity with Indigenous communities.
