Our latest garden is complete! I blame the perkiomenwatershedconservancy for this one. Last year we picked up a cranberry viburnum at their #nativeplant sale. No idea where it would go but thought the birds would love it so, and so would we. After some quick pondering when we got home, we weaved a pathway around where we had our bird feeders to create a bird garden. With only the American Cranberry, we had some thinking to do. While we were deciding what to plant, 2 things happened: 1. We killed the grass with cardboard and tarps. 2. We laid yards of fresh mulch and wood chips in the area. Our first addition to the bird garden were logs inoculated with shiitake mushrooms. I never enjoyed mushrooms until we grew the in our yard so I was excited for more. Then, the 4th wedding anniversary is fruit. In honor of that we tried our first pawpaw and at that moment we decided to plant pawpaws.
