Every day, we’re working toward a more sustainable food system. One that nourishes people, protects the planet, and supports future generations. As we celebrate this Earth Day, we’re proud to share that Straus Dairy Farm, our founder’s family farm and one of the organic farms that supplies organic milk to Straus, is on track to become the first certified carbon-neutral dairy farm in the U.S. by 2030. Several of our supplying farms are also working toward the same goal. This work starts on the farm, where regenerative organic practices like rotational grazing help build healthy soil and draw carbon out of the atmosphere. Straus Dairy Farm also captures methane from cow manure to generate renewable electricity, keeping potent greenhouse gases out of the air. And in 2021, it became the first dairy in the country to trial red seaweed in our cows’ diet—a natural way to reduce methane emissions by up to 90%.
