I got me an award!! 🇬🇾🇬🇾 I’m so honored to have received the Entertainment Award from the Guyana’s 60th Independence Committee under the Consulate General of Guyana. Thank you to everyone who helped me pick the dress, even if I didn’t end up wearing your pick! I got to meet some incredible people like author_ytm taste some delicious scotch bonnet, mango lassi, aloo curry and see some steel drum and Guyanese dancers. I felt so proud to be surrounded by so much culture and joy. I wore the gold churia my grandmother gave to my grandfather and passed down to my mom. It felt like I had some of their energy with me ✨ Thank you Mabear for showing me how to be proud of your roots while embracing where you are, and for agreeing to wear a “daytime dress” bc I wanted to color coordinate 😭 Shout out to my ride-or-die Trini sis lizlokre for being the visual visionary that you are and waving that Guyanese flag!
