One of the decor items we get the most questions about is this Norwalk Tires sign. So, we’ve been busy digging up a little bit of information to satisfy our customers with curious minds. Norwalk Tires was founded in 1914 in the city of Norwalk, Connecticut. The original property included over 40 acres of land located along the Norwalk River. The property has now been separated into two lots, 10 and 20 Glover St., and both have been heavily renovated and serve as office space now. As demand for automobile tires skyrocketed post-World War II, Norwalk Tires was acquired by Armstrong Rubber Company, which was one of the leading rubber manufacturers in the world at that time. With the acquisition of the Norwalk Tires Company, Armstrong had two extremely successful decades of growth in the 50s and 60s and is still considered to be one of the most popular tire brands of the 20th century.
