How do you bring a 1927 landmark back to life for today’s audiences?
For
#PreservationMonth, we’re spotlighting carolinatheatreclt, a historic venue in uptown Charlotte, NC, that went dormant for a time before being reimagined as a cultural cornerstone.
In collaboration with fftcarolinas, our design restores the theater’s historic presence while introducing a new lobby addition conceived as a public piazza. Extending into the street, the addition frames the restored façade as a sculptural centerpiece and creates a stronger connection between the city and the experiences inside.
From civic conventions to live entertainment, the renewed Carolina Theatre shows how preservation can create new ways for a community to gather, connect, and look ahead.
