India has successfully demonstrated a 1000 kilometre quantum communication network under its National Quantum Mission, achieving the milestone in under two years using indigenous technology developed by QNu Labs. This network uses quantum key distribution to enable ultra secure communication, where any interception attempt is immediately detectable. It is among the longest such deployments globally and is expected to strengthen secure communications across defence, finance, and critical infrastructure sectors.
