Every spring, downtown Columbia hosts its annual Earth Day Festival to celebrate the earth and advocate for the planet. The activism scene at the festival was bigger than just eco-issues. Vendors spread awareness to the local community about several diverse issues. Both volunteers and attendees stressed the importance of educating younger generations and utilizing Columbia’s community throughout Earth Day celebrations.
“For folks like me who want to connect with other organizations and people across the community, there's a lot of opportunity to hear from people on different issues that matter,” said Kristin Bowen, a volunteer for Moms Demand Action.
