According to @foxnashville, this will now redraw Shelby County into three Republican-controlled districts, breaking apart the state’s only majority-Black district, which is primarily located in Memphis. ____________________________________ As a result, the NAACP Tennessee State Conference has filed a lawsuit to block the state’s attempt. NAACP General Counsel, Kristen Clarke, said, “We’re outraged that the State, rather than seeking a more just and fair system, is seeking to roll Tennessee back to a time when many of us didn’t have equal rights.
