SummerSlam 1992 was moved from Maryland to Wembley Stadium in London specifically because of Davey Boy Smith. His popularity in the UK was so significant that WWE sold out 80,000 tickets in eleven hours. Davey Boy was led to the ring by boxing champion Lennox Lewis in front of 80,355 of his own countrymen. He pinned Bret Hart to win the Intercontinental Championship in what Pro Wrestling Illustrated voted Match of the Year. Davey Boy Smith was so over in his home country that WWE built an entire pay per view around him.
