District 7 Councilmember Cecilia Lunaparra’s office organized tours to bring government leaders and campus housing officials into on- and off- campus student housing to witness the habitability concerns that students face. The first stop of Tuesday’s tour was Unit 3, where campus junior Jeff Vega welcomed officials to tour his room in Norton Hall. Vega noted the room’s lack of circulation and temperature controls. He also expressed that safety concerns surrounding the windows are one of his primary concerns, especially after a student died after falling out of a window from Norton Hall in April.
