A federal judge dismissed the case between the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law and UC Berkeley in court Thursday morning. The ruling effectively ends a back-and-forth between student intervenors and campus over a controversial settlement. The settlement, reached in March, reaffirms campus’s commitment to the controversial International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism in assessing cases of alleged discrimination. It also outlaws student groups from banning speakers in their bylaws, among other provisions. In court, presiding Judge James Donato said he wanted to give intervenors “one last crack” at making their argument.
