Showing Three Chimneys Farm stallion VOLATILE a replay of his son T O Elvis winning the Grade I Churchill Downs Stakes on Kentucky Derby Day this past Saturday, becoming his sire’s first Grade I winner 🥹 Many of the top US-based sprinters and milers proved no match for Japan’s T O Elvis as he drew off to win by 3 1/4 lengths while completing the seven furlongs in a final time of 1:20.49. The final time was 0.01 faster than Alannan recorded in the 2001 Churchill Downs–then a handicap–and was just 0.05 off the seven-furlong track record held by Groupie Doll. The Kentucky-bred 4-year-old colt is based in Japan, owned by Tomoya Ozasa, trained by Daisuke Takayanagi and ridden by Ryusei Sakai. He was bred by Jess Prunzik and Melissa Prunzik. Connections are considering bringing T O Elvis back to his home state in the fall for the GI Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Keeneland.
