In my own life, I have experienced the sorrow and grief that come when death parts us from those we love. At such times, the miracle of Easter and the hope made possible through Jesus Christ have lifted, steadied, and rescued me. I run to the scriptures to be filled with witnesses found in the New Testament and the Book of Mormon. In one, I hear the resurrected Savior say, “Peace be unto you” (John 20:19). In the other, I am encouraged to “have hope through the atonement of Christ” (Moroni 7:41).
Easter always brings me a renewed gratitude for Jesus Christ. Because of Him, sorrow, sin, and death do not have the final word. In Him, we can look forward with confidence that broken things can be made whole. Forgiveness becomes the balm that heals the wounds of our humanity and allows us to begin again.
