It will be you. They don’t know it yet, but when they’re grown up and starting their own Ramzan & Eid traditions, it will be you they mirror. Your family recipes will be at their tables, they’ll call you to find out how you made so and so recipe. They’ll look for the Ramzan moon the night before Ramzan begins, they’ll make Duas the same way you did with them when they were little. They’ll make those trays of iftari the way they saw you make them for the neighbors. They’ll stay up for tarawi, make the duas, sneak in that post namaz fruit chaat the way you did. When they think of Ramzan, it will be you. It will be you they emulate, you they remember, you that they want to be for their family.
