The wind carried more than sound today. It carried memory, love, grief, resilience and voices that must never be forgotten. ❤️ For Red Dress Day, the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQI+ People, USask community members gathered to create and hang decorated brass bells throughout the red willow bluffs surrounding the Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre. Each bell tells a story. Each one honours Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit people. Guided by the words of Elder Mary Lee, “face the wind, it brings back memories,” this living memorial invites all of us to pause, listen, reflect and remain accountable. Thank you to everyone who came together in remembrance, creativity and community today.
