Most tree problems start before the tree even goes in the ground. 🌳 Some of the biggest mistakes I’ve made are: Not picking the right tree for my climate and space Digging a hole way too deep Volcano mulching around the base Here’s what I learned from @Fast Growing Trees usly. Make sure the tree actually fits your climate, soil, and space NOT just what it looks like right now, but what it’ll become in 10–20 years. When it’s time to plant, dig a hole 2–3x wider than the root ball, but no deeper. Most people go too deep, and that can cause the tree to settle and struggle. Then finish with mulch around the base to hold moisture and regulate temperature but keep it pulled back from the trunk. Piling it up against the tree (mulch volcano) can lead to rot and disease. Do those three things right, and you’ve already given your tree a huge advantage.
