One of Arizona’s most recognizable road trip stops between Phoenix and Tucson is shutting down for good. The Picacho Peak DQ Travel Center announced its final day in business will be May 31 after serving travelers for more than 40 years. The location became a staple for Arizona drivers making the trip between Phoenix and Tucson, known for its giant ice cream cone sign, road trip pit stops, and late-night Blizzard runs. Owners say they were unable to reach a new agreement to remain on the state-owned property. Bowlin Travel Centers says a new food concept will eventually replace the Dairy Queen location next door. End of an era for a lot of Arizona families 😭 Via ABC15 #Arizona #PicachoPeak #DairyQueen #Phoenix #Tucson
