Construction continues on a major I-10 expansion project between Phoenix and Casa Grande — one that’s been in the works for years.
According to ADOT, crews are currently working on connecting two halves of a new eastbound bridge over the Gila River. One side of the bridge was completed last year, while the other is still under construction.
This project is part of a larger plan to widen a 26-mile stretch of I-10 to three lanes in each direction — aimed at reducing congestion and improving traffic flow between Phoenix and southern Arizona.
The expansion has been ongoing for several years and impacts one of the busiest travel corridors in the state, especially for commuters, truck drivers, and anyone traveling between Phoenix and Tucson.
Once completed, the two halves will be joined into a single structure drivers will use daily.
