A dangerous situation was caught on camera after a wrong-way driver collided with a deputy’s patrol vehicle in Yavapai County. According to officials, a deputy spotted an SUV heading the wrong direction on Highway 69 near Dewey-Humboldt, just east of Prescott. Dashcam video shows the deputy stopping his patrol vehicle in front of the oncoming SUV in an attempt to prevent something worse. Moments later, the driver continued forward and crashed head-on into the patrol unit at a low speed. Authorities say the driver, a man in his late 70s, appeared disoriented at the scene. After being evaluated, he was arrested on suspicion of DUI. Thankfully, the situation did not result in more serious injuries — but it highlights how quickly things can escalate on the road.
