A retired firefighter traveled 800 miles to Phoenix to attend a Grand Canyon University graduation — for a young woman he’s known since the day she was born. Back in 2004, he responded to a medical call in Colorado Springs and ended up helping deliver her as a newborn. That moment turned into something much bigger. After the birth, the family stayed in touch — and over the years, they built a bond that went far beyond that day. He made a promise to be there for the big moments in her life.
