Six fraternities at the University of Arizona are now under investigation — with three facing the most serious hazing-related allegations involving student safety concerns.
According to the university, Sigma Alpha Mu, Sigma Chi, and Phi Delta Theta are dealing with the most severe claims.
Officials say the incidents involve:
• Dangerous alcohol-related situations
• Students needing medical attention
• Reports of harmful and high-pressure initiation practices
• Situations that may have put members at risk
Two fraternities have already been placed on Interim Loss of Recognition, meaning they could lose their status depending on the outcome.
Phi Delta Theta is currently under activity suspension while the investigation continues.
In total, six fraternities have been investigated in just the past month, raising concerns about how common these situations may be.
The university says it has a strict no-hazing policy and is actively reviewing everything.
