Border wall construction in southern Arizona has forced the closure of part of the Arizona Trail, cutting off access to its southern endpoint 🚧 The closure impacts the southernmost mile of the 800-mile Arizona Trail, which runs across the entire state and ends at the U.S.–Mexico border near the Huachuca Mountains. That final stretch leads to Border Monument 102, a landmark many hikers use as their finish line. With construction and blasting underway in the area, officials say the closure is necessary for safety. According to the Arizona Trail Association, the closure is expected to remain in place through 2027. Each year, around 400–500 hikers complete the full trail, often finishing at that exact location — which is now off-limits.
