The Chattanooga area has struggled to develop and sustain year-round emergency shelter for its homeless population. A Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition report from 2025 said the region needs to more than quadruple its number of emergency beds to support the area’s needs, which would require 800 more emergency beds beyond the 220 in the region now.
