From Studio 437, today’s #Artist365 feature introduces May DeViney. Originally a painter, in recent years May DeViney has specialized mostly on mixed media constructions, which frequently incorporate paintings and found elements built into three-dimensional multi-media wall pieces, sculpture and installations. These constructions often exhibit a flavor of Joseph Cornell, H. C. Westermann or Grant Wood, combined with the styles of Renaissance historical and religious art. She often expresses her history and vision as a Midwesterner. Her work will be appearing in a solo exhibition at Viridian Artists, 548 West 28th St., New York City from June 23rd through July 11th, 2026.
