From March 27 to April 2, 2026, a team of
#BULaw students competed in the 33rd Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot held in Vienna, Austria.
The team was made up of both JD and LLM students, including Pooja Bagalkoti (’26), Jessica Henderson (’26), Ana Mercado Barahona (’27), Orestes Rellos (’26), Kasthya Siburian (’26), and Shaina Sikka (’26), and was joined by Philo Holland (’26) for practice sessions. This academic year, coach Dimitrios Ioannidis (CAS’86, LAW’90) also taught the class “Vis International Commercial Arbitration” for the first time, and was joined by Marlisa Payne (’24) and Karen Hunt (’24), who served as co-coaches.
The Vis Moot Competition brings together law students from around the world to promote the study and practice of international commercial sales law and arbitration.
“The Vis Moot was an incredible opportunity to connect with international arbitrators and strengthen my oral and legal advocacy skills,” says Sikka.
