It's official: Republican entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy will face off against Democratic Dr. Amy Acton in the race to replace Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine. The Republican primary was called early by NBC News and Decision Desk HQ. Ramaswamy, 40, of Upper Arlington, defeated his primary foe Casey Putsch after a roller coaster GOP primary that started in early 2025. Ramaswamy’s victory was sealed with early support from President Donald Trump, the Ohio Republican Party, DeWine and a plethora of GOP elected officials. Ramaswamy, a biotech billionaire, recently tapped into his personal wealth to loan his campaign $25 million.
