As turnover season begins, it’s time to introduce the midshipman behind the camera. Today’s #FirstieFriday features our Brigade Deputy Public Affairs Officer, MIDN 1/C Ellie Alex. Growing up in the coastal town of Cohasset, Mass., Ellie’s life has always been tied to the water. As a standout member of the Intercollegiate Sailing Team, she has represented the Academy in eight national championships. Her decorated career on the water includes being named an All-American, a four-time First Team All-Conference selection, and two-time Conference Crew of the Year. Her sailing background opened doors across the globe. One of Ellie’s favorite training highlights was her foreign exchange aboard the legendary Italian tall ship, the Amerigo Vespucci. She joined the crew as they sailed back to its home port after a two-year world tour, a journey that culminated in meeting the Italian President and Secretary of Defense.
