“We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowlers; the snare is broken, and we have escaped!” -Psalm 124:7 Life has invisible snares. They are not always obvious, not always immediate, but real all the same. Whether drawn by desire, fear, or habit, we wander into what we cannot break. What seems small becomes binding, what seems harmless holds fast. On our own, we cannot escape; we don’t even recognize the danger until we are already trapped. But the LORD does not abandon His people in the trap. He doesn’t watch on as we struggle in what binds us. While we cannot free ourselves, He can, and He does act. The snare is not just loosened, or made easier, it is broken. Not by our doing, not by our strength or effort, but by His hand alone. And we are escaped! Our soul is escaped!
