It was Dr. Joseph Varon’s 252nd day in a row working at the hospital. 人 Dr. Varon, the head doctor at United Memorial Medical Center in Houston, Texas, was captured by a photographer on Thanksgiving. He was hugging a patient in his COVID-19 area who just wanted “to be with my wife.” Nakamura was with Varon that day and took the powerful photo. Later, people talked to both of them about it. The photo shows Varon in his safety gear hugging an old man who is resting his head on Varon’s arm. Varon saw the old man trying to leave his room. “He’s crying,” Varon said. “So I ask him, ‘Why are you sad?’ And the man says, ‘I want to be with my wife! So I hugged him.
