While the Mittens get all the postcards, Merrick Butte is the one that actually stops you in your tracks.
It's the most massive butte on the valley floor - and what fascinated me most is how completely it changes depending on where you stand. Same rock. Totally different giant.

1️⃣ Monument Valley Overlook The grand introduction. From up here, the whole valley finally clicks into place - and Merrick stands tall between the Mittens, impossible to miss.
2️⃣ The North Window My favorite viewpoint in Monument Valley. The rock drops off at the edge, and Merrick appears - framed by nothing but open sky.
3️⃣ John Ford Junction The dirt road runs straight toward it. No detours, no distractions - just you, the track, and Merrick Butte getting bigger with every step.
4️⃣ Hunts Mesa From up here, you realize how alone it really stands out there.
