❗️Formula 1 is already reworking its 2026 engine philosophy before the new era has even fully arrived. The FIA has now confirmed that the planned 50/50 power split between the internal combustion engine and electric system will be reduced for 2027, shifting to a 60/40 balance in favor of the gasoline engine. That means the V6 turbo hybrid power units will rely more heavily on combustion power instead of the extremely aggressive electrical deployment targets originally planned. Under the updated proposal, the combustion engine output would increase by roughly 50 kW while fuel flow limits would also rise to support the added power. The goal is to improve drivability, reduce situations where cars run out of electrical deployment on straights, and make racing less dependent on battery management.
