At first glance, the Stone House reads as pure Mediterranean Revival, but its details reveal a rich blend of influences. Crafted in 1922 by Bahamian artisans, this stunning shell mosaic transforms a breezeway into a textured work of art. Sea biscuits, coral, and shells are carefully arranged in cement, radiating in perfect symmetry from a central point. It’s a beautiful example of how the Deering Estate’s architecture pairs Mediterranean Revival design with local craftsmanship.
