An ancient Indigenous intaglio site in southern Arizona was damaged during border wall construction tied to the Trump administration’s expansion project. Customs and Border Protection later confirmed that construction equipment “inadvertently disturbed” the Las Playas Intaglio, a desert ground etching estimated to be more than 1,000 years old and connected to the ancestral landscape of the O’odham people.
