Cowboys rookie Shiyazh Pete (Navajo) carries himself with quiet confidence.
Beginning his NFL journey with the Dallas Cowboys, Pete signed as an undrafted rookie free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-8, 310-pound offensive lineman grew up between Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona before walking on at New Mexico State and later transferring to Kentucky, where he started every game this past season.
But it was Pete’s demeanor during rookie minicamp that immediately stood out.
Soft-spoken, thoughtful, and gentle, Pete repeatedly spoke about earning trust, remaining coachable, representing his community properly, and understanding the responsibility that comes with becoming a public figure.
“To put on the star is surreal,” Pete said. “But I have to earn that star.”
