#OnThisDay in 1961, John Lewis was brutally attacked by a vicious mob at a Rock Hill, SC, bus terminal during a Freedom Ride. In 2009, Elwin Wilson, the man who beat Rep. Lewis, apologized in person and discussed the importance of the Civil Rights Movement today with Rep. Lewis.
