Born in the Sargasso Sea—the only sea defined by ocean currents—American Eels begin their lives as microscopic larvae drifting across the Atlantic. Guided by the scent of freshwater, these elusive travelers undergo a series of radical transformations. From small transparent glass eels to camouflaged elvers, they change shape throughout their climb to the mountain streams of Shenandoah, 3,000 feet above sea level. Shenandoah is produced by Orange Frame Productions, presented and co-produced by VPM, with the cooperation of Shenandoah National Park.
