I think becoming a mom made me start noticing patterns a lot more clearly.
My parents have been visiting and this is the longest stretch of time I’ve spent around them in like the last 12 years.
And honestly… it’s made a lot of things impossible not to notice.
I’ve watched my mom stretch herself thin trying to help everybody, be there for everybody, include everybody, and keep up with everything…
but then somehow still feel guilty the second somebody takes something off her plate.
And the crazy part is I understand it like I’m standing in her shoes because it’s the same pattern I’ve been trying to learn how to break in myself and I see exactly where I got it from.
It’s the constant cycle of trying to keep up, trying to carry everybody and everything at the same time, and feeling responsible for softening and smoothing things for everyone else.
And after a while, it’s like you don’t even realize how much of your life is being spent never really living because you’ve been operatin...
