I remember these emotion cards like it was yesterday.
The little pictures that taught us what “sad,” “happy,” and “angry” looked like.
But somewhere between childhood and adulthood, many people learned to say “I’m fine” before learning how to say, “I feel hurt,” “I feel overwhelmed,” or “I feel unseen.”
That’s where emotional intelligence begins.
Not in controlling emotions, but in naming them.
Because when we can name what we feel, we can process it.
And when we can process it, we communicate better at work, in business, in love, and especially with children who feel deeply before they have the words.
Self-awareness helps us understand ourselves.
Emotional awareness helps us understand others.
