Celebrating our history! Mitt Cousins was a prominent local building contractor who served as Venice’s mayor from 1944 to 1945 in the absence of Clyde Higel, who enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. 🫡
For 23 years, Cousins also served as grounds superintendent for the Kentucky Military Institute’s winter campus located in downtown Venice (the San Marco building). 🍃
Mitt was the father of Julia Cousins Lanning, the namesake of the Venice Museum & Archives, recognized for her long-standing volunteer service and contributions to the community as a philanthropist. 🥰
