A real UCLA-led 2010 study found that women who described their homes as cluttered or stressful had higher cortisol patterns linked to chronic stress. Men in the same households did not show the same strong association overall. However, the study did not conclude that men are completely “unaffected.” It found the effect was significantly stronger in women, likely tied to social expectations and mental load around household management.
