Even BTS (bts.bighitofficial) couldnโt help but spotlight โILMU (One Dance)โ โ a performance bringing Korean tradition back to life ๐
We actually introduced this performance before on eyop as โthe Korean traditional performance that captivated New Yorkโ and also as a winner of the Bessie Awards ๐
While BTS have been highlighting the stories of people who โKEEP SWIMMING,โ they recently shared an interview with ILMUโs creative director Jung Kuho (jung_kuho).
According to Jung Kuho, ILMU โ a bold modern interpretation of a royal court dance from the Joseon dynasty โ is where the roots of K-pop can be found.
With 50 dancers moving in perfect sync, traditional Korean instruments blended with modern beats, and lighting that turns the stage into a living paintingโฆ even through video, it gives you chills.
Itโs not currently running right now, but honestly? We really hope it comes back someday โจ
