Alice Augusta Ball (1892-1916) was an American chemist whose work resulted in a treatment for Hansen's disease (formerly known as leprosy). She was the first Black person to earn a masters degree from the University of Hawaiʻi. She died in 1916, likely from chlorine poisoning after a lab demonstration. Arthur L. Dean, her advisor, published her work posthumously without acknowledging her.
