#readingsunday I GOT IT!!! I'm halfway through the book in less than 24 hours. So good. I particularly admire how well Karen Hao integrates technical explanations into the journalistic aspects of the work. This book sits perfectly among what I write about on my #feministsciencesubstack and my technical background. I love how she traces the development of AI in the 2010s as well. We all jumped on the #neuralnetwork research (using very small models of course) and tons of pressure in #acacemia to AI research. Unfortunately that is all being replaced by commercial LLMS not building our own models. However i do disagree that #academics are being 'poached' by #ai companies.
