We also get bonuses, merit raises, and retirement accounts and sick time! The non protected employees like adjuncts, grad students, are just told that by profs to shame them into working 80 hours of week for pennies. When physics professor I had 'joked' about locking the grad students in a gym after our midterm (held at 7:30PM) to grade until they were all done. He was going home to sleep. Our exams were indeed graded by the next day.
