Numerous studies have supported that women led papers are less likely to pass peer review. This was very evident this week. I have too much "jargon" and my work is 'unhelpful' to the field. I created a NEW bioinformatics methodology. The paper was "revise and resubmit" and I spent 4 MONTHS doing everything they suggested. Last week, it was rejected again. The peer reviewers on my manuscript wrote pages and pages inaccurately nitpicking citations, sequences data, (one threw a tantrum because I cited a paper from 2005), and basically called my methodology as "biased" and rejected it again. My male lab member used the SAME methodology on his paper and his FLEW through peer review in a month, was accepted with less than 1/2 a page of critique. I want to scream and cuss out the reviewers.
