On Saturday the camera and I went out for a spin and took some cool photos of surfers doing their thing. Here are some portrait-style and non-action photos I made during the Rip Curl Nations Trophy that took place at Munich's own outdoor wavepool, the o2surftownmuc As a sports photographer, I do love some action, but even more, the slower moments that happen around the action, those in-between athlete moments that are easy to miss if you're only chasing the action. The concentration before a big play, the big smiles after landing that aerial, or the banter between friends. All that belongs in sporting events as much as the sport itself. And I absolutely love looking for them as much as I can, in order to be able to tell as much of the story as possible. Are you team action only or also the details in between?
