Portland International Airport opened one of its two brand new sets of baggage claim escalators on Friday, edging closer to completing the airport’s years-long $2.15 billion renovation. The new escalators will keep arriving passengers at the north and south exits, taking them straight down to baggage claim where they can get picked up at the curb, head to the rental car center or, once a new exit is built, access the MAX train. (Those using rideshare apps will still need to make the long walk to the transportation plaza.)
