The late George E. Blair '54, who hitchhiked to IUP at 16, left a lasting national legacy. His story is one of resilience, purpose, and impact. Believed to be IUP’s first Black male graduate, Blair overcame segregation-era challenges to become a minister, educator, and leader. He went on to found the Black World Championship Rodeo and the New York City Riding Academy, opening doors for future generations. His journey and his legacy continue to inspire.
